Tidak heran, pemerintahan di era itu juga membuka jalur rel kereta api menuju ke Malang yang menghubungkan dengan Surabaya dan kota lain di Jawa.<\/p>\n<p>Rute pertama mulai dibangun pada 6 April 1875 yang menghubungkan Surabaya \u2013 Pasuran \u2013 Malang. Proyek ini oleh perusahaan kereta api Belanda yang bernama Staatsspoorwegen (SS) yang dipimpin oleh David Marchalk , seorang anggota militer Belanda yang pernah jadi surveyor untuk pembangunan rel KA jalur Jakarta \u2013 Bogor.<\/p>\n<p>Proyek ini dinamakan proyek besar jalur rel kereta api jalur Timur (Oosterlijnen) yang dibagi menjadi dua, dari Surabaya menuju Malang dan Malang menuju Blitar.<\/p>\n<p>Untuk tahap pertama, dibangun jalur dari Surabaya \u2013 Pasuruan via Porong. Sebagai stasiun awal, dibangunlah Spoorstation Semoet (sekarang Surabaya Kota) yang diresmikan oleh Gubernur Jenderal JW van Lasberge pada tanggal 16 Mei 1878. Di hari yang sama, diberangkatkan KA pertama dari Stasiun Semut menuju Porong, Sidoarjo. Dua hari kemudian, sang Gubernur meresmikan jalur KA Surabaya \u2013 Pasuruan, sebagai kelanjutan dari pembangunan jalur KA Surabaya \u2013 Porong.<\/p>\n<p>Kemudian barulah dibangun rel KA jalur Pasuruan-Malang. Pembangunan ini terdiri dari 3 bagian, yaitu jalur Bangil-Sengon sejauh 21 kilometer, jalur Sengon \u2013 Lawang sejauh 10 km dan terakhir jalur Lawang-Malang sejauh 18 km. Peresmian jalur ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 Juli 1879.<\/p>\n<p>Pembangunan jalur menuju ke Malang dibarengi dengan pembangunan stasiun-stasiun yang melingkupinya.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/01\/01\/stasiun-lawang-besar-meski-di-kecamatan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Lawang<\/a>\u00a0di utara, kemudian\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/01\/02\/stasiun-singosari-stasiun-kecil-peninggalan-belanda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Singosari<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2015\/12\/27\/stasiun-blimbing-kota-malang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Blimbing<\/a>\u00a0dan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2015\/12\/04\/mengintip-sejarah-stasiun-malang-kotalama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Malang Kotalama<\/a>\u00a0yang kemudian ditambahkan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2015\/12\/05\/menguak-sejarah-menarik-stasiun-malang-kotabaru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Kotabaru<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dari pembangunan itu hingga kini dikenal sebuah track yang paling terjal tanjakannya. Rel dari Stasiun Bangil (9 meter diatas permukaan laut) menuju ke Stasiun Lawang (484 dpl). Dengan jalur 31 km, kereta akan menanjak\/menurun setinggi 475 meter. Sebuah tanjakan yang cukup tinggi untuk jalur kereta. Tidak heran kereta berjalan begitu lambat dari arah Pasuruan dan dulu perjalanan menuju ke Malang juga menyisakan problem karena sejumlah lokomotif harus mengurangi sejumlah gerbong agar kuat mengangkut ke Malang.<\/p>\n<p>Pembangunan rel kemudian dilanjutkan dari Malang menuju ke Blitar. Pembangunan ini mulai dilakukan oleh SS setelah 17 tahun dari jalur Malang-Surabaya yaitu tahun 1896. Pembangunan ini dinamakan proyek besar jalur rel kereta api timur jilid 2 (Oosterlijnen-2).<\/p>\n<p>Di tahun itu pula, jawatan kereta milik Belanda yang lain yaitu\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2015\/12\/01\/mengenang-jalur-trem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malang Stoomtram Maatschappij (MSM)<\/a>\u00a0didirikan. Mereka juga membangun sejumlah jalur di sekitar Malang untuk membuat kereta lokal atau trem. Jalur lokal ini selesai pada 1908.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara, pembangunan rel sepanjang 74 kilometer dari Malang-Kepanjen-Wlingi-Blitar ini dilakukan dua arah. Pembangunan dilakukan dari arah utara dan barat. Kemudian rel dipertemukan di Stadiun Kepanjen. Dari utara, jalur rel sepanjang 19 kilometer diselesaikan pada tahun 1986 sedangkan jalur Blitar-Wlingi sepanjang 19 kilo diresmikan 10 Januari 1896 sedangkan jalur Wlingi-Kepanjen sepanjang 36 kilometer diresmikan tahun 30 Januari 1897.<\/p>\n<p>Sama seperti yang pertama, pembangunan rel juga melingkupi pembangunan stasiun, di Malang kemudian berdiri\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/02\/18\/melihat-dari-dekat-stasiun-pakisaji\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Pakisaji<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/01\/08\/stasiun-kepanjen-pemberhentian-suporter-bola\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Kepanjen<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/02\/12\/stasiun-ngebruk-stasiun-kecil-di-malang-selatan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Ngebruk<\/a>, dan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/04\/11\/stasiun-sumberpucung-stasiun-paling-selatan-di-malang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stasiun Sumberpucung<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7294\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"td-animation-stack-type0-1 wp-image-7294 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wearemania.net\/ngalam\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Jalur-Rel-Kereta-Api-1-600x359.jpg\" alt=\"Pemandangan indah di jalur selatan Malang | Foto: Flickr - Kang aguscwid\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pada tahun 1969, di kawasan Sumberpucung dibangun\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/01\/14\/manfaat-besar-dari-bendungan-karangkates-malang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bendungan Sutami<\/a>\u00a0lengkap dengan PLTA-nya. Pembangunan ini mengubur rel. Sehingga diganti rel baru yang arahnya memutar mengitari bendungan. Akibatnya, dibangunlah dua buah terowongan yang bernama\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ngalam.co\/2016\/03\/02\/terowongan-eka-dan-dwi-bakti-karya-karya-monumental-indonesia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eka Bhakti dan Dwi Bakti<\/a>\u00a0karena otomatis jalur menuju Stasiun Pohgajih (Blitar) menembus sebuah bukit.
